NAFEO's scholarship: Steps in the Right Direction

http://www.nafeo.org/

NAFEOs new program is a continued step in the right direction. Financial incentives are valuable for motivating individual behavior and encourage the needed risk taking. Yet, is it true that finances are the most important reason for the small numbers of African Americans who study and live abroad?

"While African American students represent 12% of U.S. higher education enrollment, their participation on study abroad programs is marginal. According to Open Doors, an annual publication of the Institute of International Education (IIE), only 3.5% of study abroad students are African American." NAFEO
